AAHA 2031 STRATEGIC PLAN · GUIDING PRINCIPLE

AAHA can double to $24 million by 2031

“Minds are like parachutes, they function best when open.”

Workshop invitation · Preparing for Design Thinking

Reaching that destination requires business-model innovation that scales through repeatable processes—not growth that depends on adding people at the same rate. This workspace turns the AAHA 2031 Strategic Plan into governed portfolio choices.

From the historical baseline to the $24 million destination

One logarithmic U.S.-dollar axis preserves absolute market order across millions and billions. AAHA revenue remains unchanged from FY2011 through FY2025, followed by its strategic path to $24 million in FY2031. The 2024 North American anchors combine $158 billion of U.S. pet-industry spending with C$14.015 billion of Canadian household spending on pets, pet food, veterinary care, and other pet services. The veterinary-services line combines the proposal’s approximately $65 billion U.S. anchor with Statistics Canada’s C$6.583 billion current-price total for veterinary and other pet services. The resulting 2024 totals are approximately $168.2 billion for the pet industry and $69.8 billion for veterinary services. Historical market values are LCG back-casts and future values are LCG forecasts using the proposal’s 7.5% and 6.5% long-run growth assumptions. Forecasts are planning estimates outside approved budgets.

Business-model innovation can turn AAHA’s strategic assets into scalable growth

AAHA’s trust, standards, proprietary data, convening power, and operating infrastructure can become scalable services and durable business models that create more stakeholder value.

The workshop translated unmet stakeholder needs into candidate opportunities. This workspace preserves that evidence so leaders can compare options, test economics, make portfolio tradeoffs, and direct constrained resources toward the models most capable of changing AAHA’s growth trajectory.

AAHA has a unique value proposition:
Strenghtening the Systems of Care and
Connecting the Veterinary Ecosystem

This decision system connects the AAHA 2031 Strategic Plan to field evidence, stakeholder value, service-line ownership, feasibility, financial potential, and governance.

Its outcome is an executable growth portfolio with clear ownership and measurable performance. Leaders use it to design process-dependent models that expand reach and value, limit total five-year cost growth to one-third, and give AAHA a credible path to double revenue by 2031.

INTERACTIVE PORTFOLIO INTELLIGENCE

The LCG Five-Year Growth Axiom: double revenue and limit cost growth to one-third

The axiom sets the executive outcome for this application. From 2026 through 2031, revenue compounds at 14.9% annually to reach an index of 200 while total cost compounds at 5.9% annually to remain near 133. Scalable business models, process redesign, technology, and disciplined portfolio choices create the operating leverage.

  4. BuildConstruct scenarios, model revenue and cost, assign owners, and create the capabilities required for execution.
  5. OptimizeMeasure results, strengthen repeatable processes, scale proven models, and reallocate resources as evidence changes.
